CHEN Wenbo

CHEN Wenbo was born in Chongqing, Sichuan province and graduated from the oil painting department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Art in 1990.

Highly acclaimed by art critics, Chen’s works have been classified as a form of “gaudy art”. His painting techniques are easily understood as a means to sidestep the limitations of political, economic and ethical concern. The artist recently turns to daily life objects as subject matter. Purely aesthetic elements such as reflections of light and strong textural elements are taking a higher importance

Starting from 1992, he had taken part in key exhibitions such as China Oil Painting Biennial in Beijing’s China Art gallery. Since 1997, he has been invited to participate in international exhibitions such as the Cologne Art Fair in Germany, Freize Art Fair, and the Amsterdam Art Fair.
