At the age of 24, GUO Hongwei has already gained reputation for his mischievous and funky water colour paintings.
In his artistic world, cartoon characters like Batman and Robin are kissing rather than joining hands to fight against the villains; a baby is not found in the arms of a loving mother but a rather quirky peanut shell. A mermaid seems to be in meditation. There are also paintings which project his youthful, naughty imagination of women, inspired by Japanese adult videos.
Born in 1982, GUO graduated in 2004 from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. In 2006, he joined the summer season exhibition at Aomeiling Gallery and Conversation ten plus ten” contemporary art exhibition at Shanghai Modern art Museum.
