HONG Hau

Born in 1965 Beijing, HONG Hao studied print-making at the Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts.

1n 1990s, he did a major silkscreen prints calle d “Selected Scriptures”, which look like facsimiles and represent double–page spreads from an old atlas. In his fictitious atlas, he subtly altered and perverted the geographical, geological and political map of the world, revealing himself an ironic strategist of individuality.

He took up photography in 1900-2000. By sorting out all his personal possessions, including new, the about to be thrown out and the still being used, such as books, coins, tins, boxes pens, pencils, tubes and pills, he rearranged them with meaning to reflect his daily life, cultural and historical interests.

Many of his works are in the Sotheby auctions in Hong Kong & New York. A major private collector of him is Uli Sigg (The Sigg Collection).
